Values my community involvement, extracurricular activities, personal development and life goals. Allows me to work long hours to earn as much money as possible. Expects me to work 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and nothing more.
It's my first week at my new job and I don't have enough work to do. I:
Decide not to tell my manager. I don't want to be bothersome. Browse the Internet to learn more about my organization or profession. Inform my manager that my work is done, offer to help out with any projects, and then find ways to learn more about my organization or profession.
I believe learning:
Basically ends when I finish school. Can occur in both the classroom and workplace. Can occur everywhere and in everything, from the classroom and workplace to extracurricular activities and casual conversation.
When I make a mistake I:
Fix it myself and move on. As long as I don't repeat the same mistake, everything will be fine. Identify the mistake and inform those who will be affected. I come to them with a plan to avoid the same mistake from happening again. Never own up to it. I don't want to get fired.
I am motivated by:
Co-workers and leaders recognizing that I am a hard worker. Co-workers and leaders recognizing that I have delivered results in my role. Co-workers and leaders recognizing that I am smarter than them.
I hope to advance in my career by:
Working very hard and waiting for promotions. I value a company that respects tenure in a role. Becoming an expert at my job, continuously learning about my industry and profession, and making solid improvements to my work and department. I value a company that recognizes people who make an impact. Staying in my role for a few months then moving to a different company. You are stuck if you stay at the same company for too long.
Someone with excellent marks. The most important factor for success is how good you are technically - everything else can be learned. Someone with excellent soft skills. Technical skills don't matter. Once you're in the company, you won't need to write any more tests. Someone who is well rounded - a person who does well in school and has good communication skills, a positive attitude and strong leadership qualities.
I want to be part of an organization that cares about the community.
I chose my specific career path because:
I am passionate about my field and enjoy what I do. I know that I can make a lot of money in this line of work. I don't mind getting any job. It's the organization that matters.
A global mindset is:
Only important when I am working in a foreign country or directly with individuals outside of North America. Integral to my success and career development at a global organization if I plan to work internationally. Integral to my success and career development at a global organization, whether or not I plan to work internationally.
